Seven Golden Bowls
This oil painting, on paper, depicts a golden vial pouring smoke and fire on earth from space.
Smoke and fire represent plagues of tribulation.
The Seven Golden Bowls
symbolizes calamities
that will affect earth during the Biblical time of the Apocalypse.
The Bible describes seven angels who hold seven gold vials.
Each angel pours a
different affliction on earth.
I researched ancient Greek vases for the bowl's design,
then etched the Christ (fish) symbol, around the perimeter.
The fish symbol has represented Christianity since the first few centuries.

A sense of depth was achieved with color and texture. Smoke tinged with orange surrounds a blue and green globe. Orange and red smoke appear closer while blue and green recede. Smoke's rendered with somewhat rough brush strokes while the earth's blue ocean's smooth surface also appears distant. The smoke and fire surround but don't obliterate the view of earth.
Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever.(Revelation 15:7)
