Shimmering Cross
And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; (Revelation 21:19 KJV)
The emerald colored cross was inspired by the preceding verse. However, bear in mind, the cross is a symbol of hardship, not a beautiful piece of jewelry. Yet God uses emerald and other beautiful gems to present His glory.
End time visions described in the book of Revelation or Apocalypse, provide indicators regarding the tribulation and Bible prophecy. Some images represent history, as described in the Bible, yet the end of the world, has yet to happen. Other images represent futuristic events.
